Stella Lefty is reacting to a new Saturday Night Live sketch that pokes fun at her songwriting.

After SNL shared a cut-for-time Weekend Update sketch on Thursday (Oct. 1) starring Veronika Slowikowska playfully ribbing the singer’s breakout hit “Boston” and online comparisons, Lefty reposted the clip to her Instagram Story with the caption: “Funny asf @nbcsnl (@veronika_iscool ur voice is amazing).” She also commented on the original SNL Instagram post, writing, “I’m so dead @veronika_iscool ur voice is fire.”

The sketch, which did not air on Saturday’s episode, features SNL cast member Slowikowska playing Lefty opposite Colin Jost at the Weekend Update desk. The premise focuses on online discussions surrounding “Boston,” which drew comparisons to Noah Kahan’s “Stick Season.” Kahan is credited as a songwriter on Lefty’s track, which interpolates the melody from his 2022 hit.

In the bit, Slowikowska’s Lefty insists her songs are completely original before singing various recognizable melodies with Boston-themed lyrics. Musical references include Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club,” Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You,” the Barenaked Ladies’ “One Week” and Taylor Swift’s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.”

Jost points out that another supposed new song resembles the Harry Potter theme with new lyrics, telling her, “Stella, you’re stealing again!”

Lefty is experiencing a breakout year. Her real-life song “Boston” reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. The track also helped propel her debut album, Long Way Home, to No. 11 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
