ETS2 KRONE eTrailer: Freight Market rules and specs

On 19 September 2024, SCS Software updated the KRONE Trailer Pack for Euro Truck Simulator 2 with a virtual version of the KRONE and Trailer Dynamics eTrailer. The feature brought an electrically assisted semi-trailer into selected Freight Market contracts.

Where the eTrailer appears in ETS2

SCS limited the eTrailer to the Freight Market rather than making it a generally ownable trailer. Eligible contracts are shorter than 350 kilometres and use a restricted set of cargoes. When a matching job appears, players can choose between the eDry Liner and eCool Liner versions.

Those restrictions matter because the feature was designed as a specific simulation of electrically assisted haulage, not as a universal replacement for every trailer in the pack. Availability therefore depends on the job list and its cargo and distance conditions.

How the electric assistance works

The real eTrailer combines an electric drivetrain with energy recovery under braking. SCS reported a continuous eAxle output of 360 kW and a peak output of 580 kW. In the game, the powered axle supports the tractor during eligible jobs and represents the fuel-saving role of the real system.

SCS said the collaboration between KRONE and Trailer Dynamics was intended to reduce diesel consumption and carbon-dioxide emissions by 20 to 40 percent in real-world operation. KRONE’s own September 2024 announcement described an average 40-percent reduction for conventional diesel tractors and a range benefit for battery-electric combinations; actual results depend on the vehicle and route.

Update context

This was an addition to the existing KRONE Trailer Pack, not a separate Euro Truck Simulator 2 map expansion. The original announcement and SCS blog document the in-game rules, while KRONE’s release explains the production technology that inspired the feature.
