ETS2 Benelux Rework: Countries, Cities and Roads

SCS Software announced Project Benelux Rework for Euro Truck Simulator 2 on February 22, 2025. The studio is rebuilding Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg from scratch because this is one of the oldest parts of the base-game map and both the real region and ETS2’s mapping standards have changed substantially.

Confirmed countries, cities and roads

The project covers all three Benelux countries rather than one isolated city. The first official preview named Antwerp and Eindhoven as new cities and identified the A2 motorway, a significant section of the E40 and the scenic N57 in the Netherlands among the planned routes.

SCS also confirmed reworked depots, new industries such as a sugar-beet factory and a wider range of landmarks. Later previews expanded that outline with Rotterdam’s port, Brussels, Luxembourg City, Antwerp and Liège, showing how logistics areas and recognizable urban features are being rebuilt together.

Why the region is difficult to recreate

Benelux combines dense motorway junctions with ports, waterways, canals, dams, locks and drawbridges. Its landscapes also shift from the flat, water-shaped north to the Ardennes in Belgium and Luxembourg. SCS said the initial team included ten map designers plus colleagues in research, quality assurance, assets and programming.

Current development status

The original announcement described the project as an early work in progress. An official February 2026 update showed Eindhoven as a new ETS2 city and detailed a DAF Trucks factory created with the manufacturer. SCS noted that private parts of the real facility could not be documented, so the game uses a carefully designed interpretation rather than a literal copy.

No release date was promised in the announcement. Screenshots and layouts shown in development posts should therefore be treated as previews until SCS publishes final release notes.
