ETS2 update 1.51: new UI, map reworks and features

SCS Software released Euro Truck Simulator 2 update 1.51 on 12 September 2024. The stable update combined four rebuilt German cities with interface, controller, lighting and driving-assistance changes that had been tested during the earlier open beta.

Four German cities rebuilt

The Germany Rework expanded to Bremen, Kassel, Osnabrück and Magdeburg. SCS rebuilt the cities from scratch with revised roads, landmarks and delivery industries instead of applying small edits to the original base-map layouts.

The update also added or refreshed custom city introduction scenes for 17 garages in the Italia DLC and 24 in Beyond the Baltic Sea. These short sequences play when a player selects a city while creating a profile.

Interface and controller changes

Version 1.51 introduced a new title screen built around a central truck view and a left-side navigation menu. The options screen gained search, clearer categories for Interface and Accessibility, and a preview carousel for desktop backgrounds.

SCS also revised controller configuration so more functions could be reached without switching to a keyboard. The release added separate options for automatic differential lock and a blind-spot sensor, giving players more control over when those assists are active.

Visual improvements

A new Interior Shadow Tweaker let the developers create a simplified light-blocking shape around truck cabins. Its purpose was to produce more consistent interior shadows when a truck passes other vehicles, lamps or emergency lights. The 1.51 changelog grouped this with the map, gameplay and UI changes in the free update.

The open-beta instructions are now historical. Players on the normal Steam branch receive the current stable ETS2 version automatically; they do not need to opt into the old 1.51 test branch.
