As Star Trek marks its monumental 60th anniversary, enthusiasts continue to fiercely debate which installment truly reigns supreme. While contemporaries like Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and foundational classics like Star Trek: The Original Series command fierce loyalty, Star Trek: The Next Generation often holds the crown. Anchored by an exceptional ensemble led by Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard, the series dramatically reshaped the sci-fi landscape. Now, devotees of the franchise can experience The Next Generation in an entirely fresh format.

Beginning October 20, the dynamic card game Fluxx is launching a series of decks inspired by beloved Star Trek eras, headlined by The Next Generation. This release serves a dual purpose: while brilliantly timed for the franchise’s diamond jubilee, it also brings back the much-missed Next Generation deck after years out of print. Whether you are a seasoned strategist or a newcomer to the table, this tabletop revival offers an ideal way to honor the legacy of Star Trek.

Star Trek’s Fluxx sets feature The Next Generation and other fan-favorite series

The Next Generation won’t stand alone in the refreshed Fluxx lineup. Several other iconic series are receiving triumphant reprints, including Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, and Star Trek: The Original Series. Furthermore, Fluxx is introducing an entirely fresh deck dedicated to Star Trek: Lower Decks. This is a monumental milestone: while the rest of the collection consists of returning favorites, the Lower Decks expansion marks the brand’s very first new Star Trek set in years. Given that Lower Decks stands out as one of the most celebrated offerings in modern Trek television, its inclusion is a welcome treat. This diverse selection grants fans countless ways to game alongside their favorite crews, offering a particularly exciting win for The Next Generation faithful.

The year 2026 is shaping up to be an extraordinary period for Star Trek crossover tabletop gaming, especially with the franchise making its grand entry into Magic: The Gathering‘s Universes Beyond lineup. First teased this past July during San Diego Comic-Con, the full collaboration is scheduled to launch on November 13. Mirroring the multi-series approach of Fluxx, Magic‘s adaptation will traverse the various iterations of the franchise, showcasing legendary characters—most notably the universe’s most iconic starship captains—within the Commander format. While the television horizon of Star Trek continues to shift, its commanding presence in the card gaming realm has never been stronger.
