Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse Co-Director Confirms Authenticity of Leaked Trailer

Nearly five minutes of footage from the finale of the Miles Morales animated trilogy recently leaked online.

Christopher Miller, writer and producer of the Miles Morales animated trilogy, responded to the leak of four and a half minutes from Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. His comment effectively confirmed the authenticity of the footage that appeared on the internet:

The video began circulating on social media on August 14, but most posts were soon removed following a copyright holder request. Sony Pictures has not officially commented on the leak.

The leaked material only partially resembled a trailer. The first part continued the final scene of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, as Miles Morales tried to explain to his Earth-42 counterpart and Uncle Aaron that he must return home and save his father from dying during a “canon event.”

The video then shifted to a dynamic montage of separate scenes. It featured Miles confronting Spider-Man 2099, the return of Gwen Stacy, Peter B. Parker, and Spider-Punk, as well as The Spot at the peak of his power. Some sequences contained unfinished animation and visual effects, which aligns with Miller’s statements about the state of the material.

Despite the appearance of the video during the D23 event, there are no confirmations of its connection to the Disney presentation. Sony Pictures Animation is handling the animated trilogy, so decisions regarding the official release of such materials remain with Sony.
