SpaceX has officially introduced the third generation of its Starship rocket and spacecraft system. Prototype number 39 has already left the assembly hall and is heading to the test site for a series of ground trials. Engineers plan to verify the performance of the updated engines and the structural integrity of the hull under extreme loads. Elon Musk confirmed that this version of the vehicle is key for future missions to Mars. If the current tests are successful the first flight of the updated system could take place as early as late 2026. This milestone represents a significant step forward in the company’s ambitious plan to make life multiplanetary.
