South Park Season 29 Teaser Indicates Return to Classic Roots Despite Title Change
Last week, South Park announced its new name: South America. This change responds to political attempts to rename geographical locations, such as the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario becoming the Gulf of America and Lake America, alongside Google and Apple updating their maps to match. The fictional town has suffered the same fate and carries the new name.
A new teaser for the upcoming season appeared across the official social media pages, offering a look at the mountain town. Political decisions have frequently inspired storylines on the show. While some viewers feel tired of political jokes and want creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone to focus on the main cast, the upcoming episodes still address the rebranding.
When the social media accounts revealed the new name, fans worried the season would repeat previous political episodes. The teaser suggests the premiere will tackle a different subject.
South Park’s first episode as South America will focus on e-bikes
E-bikes take over the town in the season premiere. The teaser shows Eric Cartman riding an e-bike outside Stan’s house and asking Stan to check it out while expressing surprise that his mother bought him one. E-scooters previously caused trouble in the area, setting the stage for the episode titled “South American Biker Gangs.”
