Sony Shares Helldivers 2 Statistics Showing 22.9 Million Players

More than 22.9 million people have played Helldivers 2 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC since launch, according to Sony Interactive Entertainment. The publisher highlighted the Arrowhead Game Studios title as one of the most popular games on PS5.

The player count reflects data recorded through August 9, 2026, and measures total players rather than sold copies. Three days later, on August 12, Helldivers 2 arrived on PlayStation Plus for Extra and Premium subscribers, meaning users joining through the service are not included in the total.

In-game, Helldivers 2 is running the horror-themed narrative arc Devoid of Liberty, which introduces mutated Illuminate organisms appearing near the mysterious Void. The shooter also recently added the premium Castellan’s Creed bundle, featuring weapons, armor, and vehicle customizations inspired by Warhammer 40,000.

Sony is also developing a live-action Helldivers feature film. Justin Lin, known for the Fast & Furious franchise, will direct the adaptation. Casting for the lead role remains underway after Jason Momoa previously passed on the project. The movie is scheduled to premiere on November 10, 2027.
