Apple Studios is currently developing a new science-fiction thriller titled Liminal, according to reports from Deadline.
The upcoming feature will star Marvel Cinematic Universe alumni Vanessa Kirby (The Fantastic Four: First Steps) and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Wonder Man). The production is based on J. Michael Straczynski’s acclaimed graphic novel, Telepaths.
The source material is set in a near-future world where ten percent of the human population—including members of the Boston police department—suddenly develops telepathic abilities. This evolution sparks a high-stakes conflict between law enforcement and a faction led by a man seeking retribution for a wrongful conviction.
While it remains to be seen how closely the film will mirror the original plot, Louis Leterrier (Fast X) has been tapped to direct. An official release date for the project has not yet been disclosed.
