Karlstad Joins the Scandinavia Refresh for Euro Truck Simulator 2
Work on the Scandinavia Refresh expansion for Euro Truck Simulator 2 is progressing, and today we’re pleased to reveal a new destination you’ll soon be able to explore: the Swedish city of Karlstad.
Situated in central Sweden, Karlstad serves as a regional hub linking several parts of the country. For this update we recreated the city from the ground up and remodelled its surrounding areas to align with the visual fidelity and design standards of our more recent map regions.
Karlstad features an array of familiar landmarks and local points of interest that bring the city to life. Expect to pass a bustling train station, cultural and sporting venues, intimate lodging options, and various civic facilities that together create a distinct urban character. Beyond the city limits, the nearby countryside offers picturesque routes ideal for scenic deliveries away from the main highways.
The region also contains multiple service and logistics points — from fuel stops and farms to distribution centers — and includes a local garage where haulers can expand their operations in this part of Sweden. Our ETS2 map designer, Lukas, who led the Karlstad build, shared some thoughts on the project:
“Karlstad was my first full city project, and I poured a lot of late nights into it — hoping to capture its energy and hidden details. I aimed to make it feel lived-in, with small stories tucked around every corner.”
Lukas also hinted at a few playful secrets for explorers: “There are four gas stations in town — three fully operational, one tucked away — and a handful of semi-hidden roads. I won’t reveal their exact locations, but there’s even the odd ramp you might discover if you feel adventurous.”
