“Savant” series starring Jessica Chastain to be released in spring 2027

Apple TV has officially announced that the suspense thriller The Savant will premiere in the spring of 2027, arriving eighteen months after its unexpected shelving.

The project, featuring Jessica Chastain in the lead role, was originally slated for a September 2025 release. Apple ultimately pulled the show from its lineup due to the volatile political climate in the United States, specifically citing concerns following the assassination of Republican activist Charlie Kirk.

The Savant follows the story of protagonist Jody Goodwin (Chastain). Operating under the alias “The Savant,” she infiltrates dangerous online extremist networks to thwart large-scale terrorist plots.

The debut season consists of eight episodes. The series was created by Melissa James Gibson (known for House of Cards and The Americans), with several installments directed by Matthew Heineman (A Private War). Chastain also serves as an executive producer on the project.
