Samsung Warns: Prices for Monitors, TVs, and Electronics to Rise Soon

During the CES 2026 summit in Las Vegas, Samsung executives signaled an imminent surge in retail prices for monitors, televisions, and various consumer appliances.

This shift is attributed to a deepening crisis within the semiconductor industry that is currently hampering manufacturers across the globe.

Samsung Co-CEO TM Roh remarked:

This situation is entirely unprecedented. It will impact far more than just the smartphone sector, reaching into home appliances and digital entertainment systems.

The escalating costs are intrinsically linked to the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence, which is monopolizing significant production capacities and diverting resources away from standard electronics. Over the past few months, DRAM and NAND prices have surged by two to three times, and industry analysts foresee even further hikes throughout 2026. According to Omdia data, the cost of memory components for televisions has already doubled compared to the first half of 2025.

Samsung’s Won-Jin Lee added:

Even with our strategic long-term supplier agreements in place, we will eventually have to transfer some of these rising expenses to the end consumer.

The most substantial price adjustments are anticipated for budget and mid-range models, where razor-thin profit margins leave little room to absorb rising production costs.
