British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, best known for his iconic role in “Borat,” has reportedly been working in secret on a new project featuring his legendary alter ego, the interviewer Ali G.
The character first rose to prominence on the sketch series “The 11 O’Clock Show,” which eventually paved the way for his own hit program, “Da Ali G Show,” as well as two feature films: 2000’s “Ali G Indahouse” and the 2002 release “Ali G in Parliament.”
The persona is famously characterized by his attempts to connect with youth culture through a unique blend of Rasta and jungle subculture slang, a satirical take on those who performatively adopt hip-hop aesthetics. Specific details regarding the scope of this new project and its potential release date remain under wraps.
Baron Cohen most recently starred in the Netflix comedy “Ladies First.”
