Pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter has shared a deeply poignant tribute to Dolly Parton, reflecting on the country titan’s boundless grace, charm, and artistry following her passing at the age of 80.

Parton passed away on Tuesday (August 25), with the heartbreaking news announced by her nephew, Bryan Seaver. Across a transcendent six-decade career, the globally cherished singer-songwriter, philanthropist, and cultural icon redefined modern music with evergreen masterworks such as “Jolene,” “9 to 5,” and the immortal ballad “I Will Always Love You.”

Carpenter turned to Instagram to publish an emotional carousel of candid photographs from the set of their joint “Please Please Please” music video, accompanying the imagery with a heartfelt reflection on the brief yet indelible time they spent together.

“Oh Dolly,” Carpenter penned alongside a broken heart emoji. “The only thing I could say after we first met was, ‘She really is an angel walking the earth’ and ‘we look like we could be sisters!’”

She fondly recalled the laughter and shared moments that defined their working relationship, underscoring how deeply she will treasure the country luminary’s “wisdom, playful outlook on life, and impeccable sense of humor.”

“There will never be another you, and how lucky are we all to have experienced your singular magic as well as your once-in-a-lifetime voice, songs, and heart,” Carpenter expressed. “Your light will be something the world will search forever to find again.”

“I will always love you,” she concluded, finishing the note with a series of butterfly emojis.

The duo forged an instant cross-generational bond earlier this year when Parton lent her unmistakable vocals to a reimagined duet of “Please Please Please,” showcased on the deluxe edition of Carpenter’s 2024 LP, Short n’ Sweet. The cinematic music video featured the pair embarking on a spirited, Thelma & Louise-style road escapade.

Having cited Parton as a foundational idol throughout her formative years, Carpenter regarded the team-up as a career-defining honor. When initially revealing the collaborative track, an overjoyed Carpenter could barely contain her reverence, telling fans on social media that joining forces with the legend was a surreal milestone.

The original iteration of “Please Please Please” was already an essential landmark in Carpenter’s rise, securing her first No. 1 placement on the Billboard Hot 100 in June 2024. Her collaborative finale with Parton now stands as a celebratory monument to an icon whose creative footprint will endure for generations.
