Saber managed to obtain an ESRB rating for Hellraiser: Revival without having to cut any content
Fans will experience Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival exactly as the developers intended.
The promotional campaign for Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival immediately grabbed headlines with its visceral gore and provocative themes. This led to widespread concerns that regulatory bodies might demand significant cuts, forcing the studio to sanitize its original vision.
Previously, in an interview with IGN, Saber Interactive Creative Director Tim Willits indicated that the team was determined to push the “M” (Mature) rating to its absolute limit:
Ultimately, the developers achieved their goal without making compromises, securing an official ESRB rating for North America without the need for censorship.
However, the title has yet to receive classifications in several other international markets. There remains a possibility that modified versions may still be required to satisfy stricter regional requirements elsewhere.
Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival is currently slated for a 2026 release.
