Ryan Reynolds is set to produce and headline a remake of the 1974 crime-comedy Thunderbolt and Lightfoot. Production will be handled by Amazon MGM Studios. Reynolds will serve not only as a producer but also as the film’s lead. The picture will be directed by first-time feature director Shane Reed, who previously worked on the editorial team for Deadpool and Wolverine.
The screenplay is being crafted by Enzo Mileti and Scott Wilson, writers who contributed to the fourth season of Fargo.
The original Thunderbolt and Lightfoot was directed by Michael Cimino. Its plot follows a bank robber nicknamed Thunderbolt (portrayed by Clint Eastwood) who plans a heist alongside a novice accomplice, Lightfoot (Jeff Bridges). Predictably, their scheme does not go as planned.
Which character Reynolds will portray in the remake has not been disclosed.
