Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds has been added to the cast of Eloise — a film adaptation of Kay Thompson’s children’s books from the 1950s.
The project will be released on Netflix. The title role will be played by newcomer Mae Schenk. Amy Sherman-Palladino (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) is directing and co-wrote the screenplay.
Eloise follows a little girl who lives on the very top floor of New York’s prestigious Plaza Hotel. Partly inspired by actress Liza Minnelli, the heroine embarks on a series of adventures with her nanny, her pets and a cast of colorful characters. One of Thompson’s books even chronicles Eloise’s journey to Moscow.
No official release date for Eloise has been announced. In 2026 Reynolds is also expected to star in a road movie titled Friends with Animals.
