FX has released the cast of the series The Beauty from their contractual obligations, according to Deadline. Whether the show will be granted a second season remains unclear.
Premiering this January, the first season was adapted from the Image Comics series of the same name. The plot unfolds in a world gripped by an epidemic known as “The Beauty,” where victims initially experience a boost in physical attractiveness before ultimately succumbing to a mysterious, fatal ailment. FBI agents Madsen and Bennett are tasked with unraveling the dark origins of the outbreak.
Created by Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story), the series features an ensemble cast including Evan Peters, Rebecca Hall, Ashton Kutcher, and Isabella Rossellini. The show received generally favorable reviews, holding a 70% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a score of 64 out of 100 on Metacritic.
