Russian Premiere Date Set for “The Vanishing,” Dropped from Cannes “Un Certain Regard” Program

Manuela Martelli’s gripping drama *The Meltdown*, which premiered in the prestigious “Un Certain Regard” section of the 79th Cannes Film Festival, is set to arrive in Russian theaters under the local title *Исчезновение* (“The Disappearance”).

Set against the backdrop of 1992 Chile, the mystery drama follows nine-year-old Inés (Maya O’Rourke) as she visits her grandparents’ hotel near a ski resort. There, she strikes up a friendship with Hanna (Maya Domagala), a young German skier. When her new friend suddenly vanishes without a trace, Inés’s earnest attempts to locate her are met with the harsh, cynical realities of the adult world—revealing that, for some, the girl’s safe return may not be a priority.

The film will be distributed by U Films and is scheduled for wide release on December 3, 2026.
