Russia to Produce Bee-Themed Neo-Western Starring Matthew McConaughey

The newly established distribution firm Triada Pro has announced the upcoming Russian theatrical release of The Rivals of Amziah King, headlined by Matthew McConaughey. The film is slated to premiere in Russia on November 19.

This gripping crime thriller follows Amziah King (McConaughey), a dedicated beekeeper attempting to reconcile with his daughter and forge a life together through a family business. Their aspirations are quickly jeopardized when they find themselves targeted by ruthless local rivals.

Written and directed by Andrew Patterson (The Vast of Night), the film features a stellar supporting ensemble, including Angelina Lookinglass, Kurt Russell, Cole Sprouse, Owen Teague, and Tony Revolori.

Following its world premiere at the 2025 SXSW festival, the film received widespread acclaim from critics, currently holding an 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

In other news, McConaughey also stars in the Apple TV series Brothers, which debuts this week.
