Rumored Sony Price Hike Raises Concerns of Another PS Plus Increase

Comment Views: 1

Sony is reportedly preparing a new price increase across all three tiers of PlayStation Plus, with subscriptions in Brazil potentially rising by 16% to 36%.

According to an alleged internal Sony message that surfaced online, the company considers the May 2026 price increase insufficient and is considering another price hike before the end of the year. In Brazil, the cost of PS Plus Essential will reportedly increase from 49.90 to 67.90 reals, Extra from 74.90 to 97.90 reals, and Deluxe (Premium) from 86.90 to 100.90 reals.

The increases may amount to roughly 36% for Essential, 31% for Extra, and 16% for Deluxe (Premium).

The message uses the phrase “strategic adjustment of perceived value.” The global market situation and inflation are cited among the reasons. Current subscribers will reportedly keep their current terms until the end of their paid billing period.

Sony has not yet announced a new price increase, so this information should be treated strictly as a rumor.
