Rumor: Zendaya may headline the Jason Bourne franchise
Matt Damon and Zendaya may potentially star in the upcoming installment of the Jason Bourne action franchise, according to insights shared by Hollywood reporter Jeff Sneider.
The insider suggests that Damon is poised to “pass the torch” to Zendaya, positioning her as the new face of the series. The project is reportedly set to be helmed by Edward Berger, the acclaimed director behind Conclave and All Quiet on the Western Front.
Universal Studios has yet to officially confirm these casting details. Back in 2024, a potential title for the project emerged: “The Bourne Dilemma.” Notably, Damon and Zendaya previously collaborated on Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, The Moviegoer.
The Jason Bourne saga, which ran from 2002 to 2016, garnered a collective global box office haul of $1.66 billion. Based on the novels by Robert Ludlum, the franchise famously featured Jeremy Renner as a lead in one of the spin-off installments, in addition to Damon’s tenure as the iconic protagonist.
