Tom Cruise is reportedly in talks to portray the antagonist in the upcoming Miami Vice reboot, according to industry insider Daniel Richtman.
The project reunites Cruise with director Joseph Kosinski, following their successful collaborations on Oblivion and Top Gun: Maverick. Joining the cast in the lead roles are Academy Award winner Michael B. Jordan (Sinners) and Elvis breakout star Austin Butler.
Developed by Universal Pictures, the reboot counts Michael Mann—who directed the 2006 feature film—among its producers. The blockbuster is currently slated to hit theaters on August 6, 2027.
Following his honorary Oscar win last year, Cruise is also set to headline Alejandro González Iñárritu’s upcoming comedy, The Digger, which is expected to begin production this autumn.
