Rumor: Netflix demands reshoots for Greta Gerwig’s The Chronicles of Narnia

Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew has hit a rough patch following a series of test screenings. According to industry insider Jeff Sneider and his publication, The InSneider, Netflix was underwhelmed by audience reception and is now pushing for extensive reshoots.

The film’s initial test screening took place several months ago in Paramus. Attendees were shown a rough, two-hour cut of the movie; however, because the visual effects were still in their infancy, the project appeared far from polished. Gerwig was in attendance to gauge the audience’s response firsthand.

Subsequent screenings have reportedly failed to satisfy studio executives, leading Netflix to mandate additional production. Reports suggest that Gerwig will need to return to London to oversee these changes—a move allegedly driven by studio brass rather than the filmmaker herself.

Netflix has yet to provide an official statement regarding the reported reshoots or address claims of creative friction. Consequently, these rumors concerning the film’s narrative structure and visual quality should currently be viewed with a degree of skepticism.
