Rockstar Completely Overhauls GTA 6 Vehicles as New Details Emerge
Details about GTA VI continue to emerge as more journalists and online creators who had the opportunity to check out the game share information from their meetings with Rockstar Games. The latest updates focus on vehicles.
Rockstar has completely overhauled the vehicle system in GTA VI, giving cars distinct stats, fuel systems, complex anti-theft protection, trunk storage, and new damage consequences.
Rockstar confirmed that players will be able to buy garages, though freely purchasing new safehouses and homes will not be possible. Garages will allow players to store stolen cars until they register them.
The driving model was built practically from scratch. Rockstar combines the weight and physics of GTA IV with the accessibility of GTA V. Drivetrain, tires, suspension, and steering will affect how cars handle. Fuel and electric vehicle charging will be added, with refueling taking about 10 seconds.

Stealing expensive cars will become more difficult. Some vehicles will require cloning a key, and the necessary tools must be unlocked through chop shop missions. The Waink app will display vehicle security, car value, and required equipment.
Vehicles will feature varying trunk capacities, ranging from small storage on a motorcycle to a spacious area in a van. Pay ‘n’ Spray will return alongside nitro, and chop shops will feature different specializations.
Damage will become more realistic, as blown tires can cause a loss of control and a rollover. Serious crashes will trigger a Burnout-style camera.
If the police connect a personal car to a crime, it can be impounded. Players can retrieve the vehicle by paying a fee or by breaking into the police impound lot.
