Robert De Niro to Play Legendary Baseball Coach
Academy Award winner Robert De Niro is set to take on the lead role in the upcoming sports biopic “Tommy and Me,” as reported by Deadline.
The Taxi Driver star will portray the iconic Dodgers player and manager Tommy Lasorda (1927–2021). While specific plot details remain under wraps, the film will be directed by Reid Carolin, known for Dog, which starred Channing Tatum.
Carolin penned the screenplay alongside George Gallo (Bad Boys) and Cambron Clark (the upcoming Madden biopic). The project is being produced under the Skydance Sports banner.
De Niro recently appeared in the Netflix thriller Tin Soldier, and he is slated to return for the fourth installment of the Meet the Parents franchise this November.
