Riot Games and Hypixel Studios to Fund Technoblade Documentary

Riot Games and Hypixel Studios are financing the full-length documentary film Technoblade Never Dies, which tells the story of the legendary Minecraft creator.

As reported by Variety, the project is being created with the full support of Technoblade’s family, and Riot Games and Hypixel Studios will donate all of their profits from the film to charity.

Technoblade, whose real name was Alex, died from sarcoma in June 2022 at the age of 23. During his career, he became one of the biggest Minecraft content creators and built a multi-million-strong community around himself.

Candle True Stories is producing Technoblade Never Dies. The creators are using hundreds of hours of Technoblade’s archival footage, interviews with his family and friends, and stories from fans around the world:

“Through close collaboration with his family and friends, hundreds of hours of Technoblade’s own recordings, and the stories of the massive community he inspired, the film will chronicle how a shy, unknown teenager from California transformed into a Minecraft warrior whose humor, skill, and vibrant personality captivated millions.”

Special attention will be paid to the community that Technoblade left behind and his relationship with his family, particularly his father Marshall, who is known to fans as Mr. Technodad.

Director Steven Lake described Technoblade NeverDies as a film about the positive side of the internet and video games:

“Technoblade Never Dies is a heartfelt exploration of the positive power of the internet and video games. Technoblade’s story is about the mark that the people we love leave behind.”
