Some players are eagerly anticipating the return of a beloved character in the franchise’s new installment.
The developers of Resident Evil Requiem have already released several promotional materials showcasing the protagonist, Grace. However, some “insiders” have been spreading claims that Leon will appear in the game and continue to insist on it.
An image of Leon with one eye covered subsequently leaked online — allegedly suggesting the character will appear older and wearing an eyepatch in RE Requiem.
The game’s producer, Masato Kumadzawa, addressed these rumors in an interview with Stevivor:
Apart from the official information published by Capcom, most other material is essentially detective work or fan-driven conjecture. So I’d advise against taking everything at face value.
He pointed out that the advent of AI tools has increased the ability to manufacture convincing fake content:
Given that we live in a time when AI can generate realistic videos and images, it’s often hard to distinguish truth from fabrication. Players are free to believe whatever they wish; what I mean to say is: until Capcom officially releases the game, we can’t provide any confirmation.
A recent image of Leon wearing an eyepatch circulated with claims of a DLC or new costume — to be clear: those reports are fabrications.
