D4vd Named a Suspect in the Death of 15‑Year‑Old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, Sources Tell Media

Reporting draws on law‑enforcement sources and local outlets.

Media reports indicate that 20‑year‑old artist D4vd (born David Anthony Burke) is being treated as a suspect in the death of 15‑year‑old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. News organizations citing law‑enforcement sources say Hernandez’s body was discovered inside the trunk of an impounded Tesla that was registered to the musician; the discovery occurred on September 8, 2024. According to an LAPD source quoted by NBC News, Burke has not been cooperating with investigators. ABC News reports similarly and notes that authorities are exploring whether additional individuals may have been involved.

The Los Angeles medical examiner has not yet released an official cause of death. An LAPD source told NBC Los Angeles that investigators believe Hernandez likely died in the spring of 2024 and that evidence suggests someone assisted with dismembering and disposing of the remains.

No arrests have been announced.

Billboard has reached out to representatives for D4vd and to the Los Angeles Police Department for comment.

Background: on September 8, 2024, workers at a Hollywood tow yard reported a strong odor coming from a Tesla, which led to the discovery of Hernandez’s body in the vehicle’s trunk. Officials say the teenager had been missing since April 2024 in Riverside County and had been deceased for an extended period prior to being found.

The vehicle was registered to D4vd. At the time of the discovery, reports indicated he was cooperating with investigators; subsequent reporting from law‑enforcement sources says that is no longer the case. Following the news, the remainder of his Withered World Tour dates were canceled.
