Release of Terrence Malick’s ‘The Way of the Wind’ Remains in Doubt

The British newspaper The Telegraph published a report on the production of Terrence Malick’s long-awaited biblical epic, The Way of the Wind.

According to insiders, there is still no confirmed release date. Malick reportedly filmed more than three thousand hours of footage and is currently continuing to assemble and edit the project.

The Way of the Wind was first announced in 2019. The film is expected to present a biographical portrait of Jesus Christ (Geza Röhrig), the apostle Peter (Matthias Schoenaerts) and other figures from the biblical narrative. The project has been called the most personal work of Malick’s career.

Reporters have pointed to potentially provocative elements, including scenes of Jesus frequently smoking cannabis and a 28-minute philosophical monologue delivered by Satan (Mark Rylance). The cast reportedly also features Ben Kingsley, Joseph Fiennes, Mathieu Amalric and others.
