Reacher Star Says Season Involving White Supremacist Militia Was Scrapped After Election

One of Jack Reacher’s most cathartic adventures was reportedly scrapped due to the political climate. Alan Ritchson implied in a post on Threads that Amazon canceled a season about Reacher battling white supremacists after Donald Trump won a second term.

A user on Threads posted, “Every year I’m sad to learn that next season won’t be the book where he [Reacher] kills his way through a white supremacist militia camp.” Ritchson responded, “My favorite book. Fun fact: I had it approved until someone got re-elected.” Ritchson was apparently referring to Donald Trump’s re-election in 2024. The series first aired in 2020, with seasons three and four airing in February 2025 and August 2026, respectively.

The book in question is Die Trying, which is the second entry in the Jack Reacher series. Published in 1998, the novel follows the hero and a prominent politician’s daughter after a white supremacist organization kidnaps them.

Prime Video has not offered an official response to the comments. Amazon may have dropped the plotline to avoid pushback from Trump supporters or the president. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos publicly supported Trump after his re-election, describing his win as an extraordinary political comeback.

What is Reacher about?

Reacher is an action thriller series that follows a former U.S. Army military police major who battles various criminal organizations. The show has been renewed for a fifth season based on the twentieth novel, Make Me. A spin-off show titled Neagley premiered on Sept. 16, 2026.

Alan Ritchson stars as Jack Reacher in a scene from season 4 of Reacher.

Ritchson has made his political beliefs clear in the past, saying, “Trump is a rapist and a con man, and yet the entire Christian church seems to treat him like he’s their poster child, and it’s unreal. I don’t understand it.” He has criticized the president several times since then, particularly regarding the Epstein Files. He also praised Bernie Sanders as a hero. Variety reported that Ritchson is in talks to star in a Helldivers film for Sony.
