Reacher Renewed for Season 6 on Prime Video
Reacher continues its run on Prime Video. Just days after the season 4 finale of the action series starring Alan Ritchson aired and while production on season 5 is underway, Prime Video confirmed that a sixth season of Reacher is officially in development. The renewal follows strong viewership for season 4, which the streamer reports reached 66 million viewers globally in its first 28 days.
Prime Video ranks Reacher among its most-watched original series, drawing more than 200 million viewers worldwide to date.
Reacher is drawing a big international audience
Prime Video stated that Reacher season 4 ranks among the top-five most-viewed seasons of any original series in the history of the streaming service. More than half of the audience is based internationally, with strong viewership numbers recorded in the U.K., Germany, and Brazil.
"Reacher hits hard," said Peter Friedlander, head of global television at Amazon MGM Studios. "What Lee Child has built and Nick Santora and his creative teams have brought to life is, simply, incredible. Alan Ritchson is Jack Reacher — he’s delivered a performance that has captivated audiences around the world. Together with our partners at Paramount Television Studios, we couldn’t be more excited to continue this journey. Reacher is a truly iconic series, and we’re thrilled to be on the ride with this extraordinary cast and crew for Season Six."
What is Reacher season 6 based on?

The fourth season of Reacher is based on author Lee Child’s novel Gone Tomorrow, which is the 13th book in the series. Season 5 will adapt Child’s 20th book, Make Me, as Amazon MGM previously confirmed.
Prime Video did not announce which book will serve as the basis for Reacher season 6. Previous seasons adapted Killing Floor, Bad Luck and Trouble, and Persuader. The film adaptations starring Tom Cruise covered One Shot and Never Go Back.
According to Alan Ritchson, one of Child’s novels appears to be off the table: 1998’s Die Trying, the second Jack Reacher book. Responding to a fan on Threads, Ritchson noted that Die Trying is his favorite book in the series and stated, "I had it approved until someone got re-elected," referring to U.S. President Donald Trump. That novel features the protagonist being kidnapped by a separatist white supremacist militia in Montana.
The source material spans 30 books and a short story collection. Lee Child and his younger brother, Andrew Child, are releasing a new novel in the series titled Chain Reaction this fall.

When will Reacher season 6 be released?
A confirmed release date for Reacher season 5 has not yet been announced. Season 5 is currently in production in Toronto and is scheduled to wrap filming later this year, which points toward a mid- to late-2027 release date. Given the typical production turnaround of 15 to 18 months for the series, season 6 is expected to arrive in late 2028 or early 2029.
The later timeline could potentially align with a new administration, which may clear the way for a Die Trying adaptation. Meanwhile, Ritchson may star in another adaptation, a film based on Helldivers.
Series creator Lee Child described season 5 of Reacher as a "brutal" and "disgusting story." Child told Collider, "It’s not fit for family consumption, so I don’t know what they’re going to do about the actual crime in that."

Reacher premiered on Prime Video in 2022. Four seasons are currently streaming alongside the eight-episode spinoff series Neagley.
