Rachel McAdams, best known for Mean Girls and The Notebook, will headline an untitled science‑fiction thriller directed by Joseph Gordon‑Levitt.
McAdams replaces Anne Hathaway, who has left the project. The film was first reported in December of last year, and its plot is said to revolve around artificial intelligence.
Gordon‑Levitt developed the concept with Kieran Fitzgerald (Snowden) and actress Natasha Lyonne (Russian Doll). Rian Johnson (Knives Out) is attached as one of the producers.
The picture will be released by the streaming service Netflix; an official premiere date will be announced later. McAdams is also slated to appear in Sam Raimi’s thriller “Send Help” in spring 2026.
