Quentin Tarantino Announces Cliff Booth Sequel Novel for 2026 Release

Over the past few decades, Quentin Tarantino has forged a movie career unlike any other. The director has bounced across genres and the conventions of cinema for years now, with projects like the Kill Bill series, Pulp Fiction, and Reservoir Dogs. One of Tarantino’s epic stories is set to get a sequel later this year, but it might not be the one that you are already thinking of.

The Adventures of Cliff Booth, a new novel written by Tarantino, is set to be released by book publisher HarperCollins on Tuesday, December 8th. As the title suggests, the novel will be a continuation of the story of Hollywood stuntman Cliff Booth, who was portrayed by Brad Pitt in Tarantino’s 2019 film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

The title of Tarantino’s book differs slightly from Netflix’s The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, the upcoming film that is also set to unpack Booth’s story. Tarantino wrote the screenplay for the movie but is not directing it, with director David Fincher stepping into that role after having already worked with Pitt on projects like Fight Club and Seven. The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth will technically premiere right before The Adventures of Cliff Booth is released in bookstores, as the movie will run in IMAX theaters for two weeks beginning on Wednesday, November 25th, before streaming exclusively on Netflix on Wednesday, December 23rd.

It remains to be seen how the stories for both The Adventures of Cliff Booth and The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth will overlap, especially since both are written by Tarantino. In 2021, the director released a novelization of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood that spanned far beyond the events of the movie, exploring the fallout of the finale on both Booth and Leonardo DiCaprio’s Rick Dalton. There is a chance that the Cliff Booth novel will expand upon what Tarantino already wrote for the Cliff Booth movie, especially since he made the choice not to direct the latter.

In addition to Pitt, The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth will see Timothy Olyphant reprise his role as actor James Stacy from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The cast of the new movie will also include Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Matt Groove, JB Tadena, Corey Fogelmanis, Karren Karagulian, Holt McCallany, Barry Livingston, and Lauren Glazier.
