Prince Harry Admits Harry Styles Is the U.K.’s Most Famous Harry — But Is He Right?

While he may not hold a royal title, Harry Styles has officially claimed his throne as the most prominent “Harry” in the United Kingdom—at least, according to Prince Harry himself.
During a candid appearance on James Corden’s After Hours podcast this past Sunday (July 19), the Duke of Sussex navigated the lighthearted but high-stakes debate regarding which famous British icon named Harry truly holds the title of most recognizable. Initially hesitant and joking about a potential “conflict of interest,” the prince eventually relented after prodding from Corden and co-host Rio Ferdinand.
“Be bold?” the Spare author quipped. “Harry Styles [first], Harry Kane [second].”
After a thoughtful pause, Prince Harry humbly placed himself in the third spot, declaring a tie with J.K. Rowling’s legendary wizard, Harry Potter. When pressed on how to resolve the deadlock, the royal jokingly proposed a “Quidditch-off.”
Styles certainly has the credentials to back up the claim. The pop superstar has dominated the U.K. charts with four No. 1 singles and three chart-topping albums. His 2022 anthem “As It Was” held the top spot on the Billboard Global 200 for an impressive 15 weeks, and he recently solidified his status as a national icon with a record-breaking 12-night residency at Wembley Stadium.
However, the hierarchy of fame looks quite different when viewed through the lens of search engine trends. Both soccer sensation Harry Kane and the fictional hero Harry Potter frequently outperform both the prince and the pop star. Data from Google Trends over the past year confirms that Potter remains the most searched “Harry” by a significant margin, while Kane’s stellar performance during the World Cup kept him ahead of the pack for much of the previous month.
