During today’s milestone Pokémon Presents broadcast, which marks the franchise’s 30th anniversary, Game Freak officially unveiled the next mainline entries in the series: Pokémon Winds and Waves. These upcoming adventures are scheduled for a global release in 2027.

The reveal trailer showcased a lush, tropical region teeming with life and introduced the three new starter companions. Aspiring Trainers will choose between Browt, an avian Grass-type; Gecqua, a nimble Water-type gecko; and Pombon, a Fire-type inspired by a canine aesthetic.
Beyond the vibrant terrestrial environments, the footage provided a glimpse of the new protagonist designs and teased the return of underwater exploration. While diving and maritime discovery have appeared in previous generations, the trailer suggests these mechanics will play a significant role in this new setting.

Aside from the core trio of Browt, Gecqua, and Pombon, no other new species were officially confirmed. Mechanically, the titles appear to build upon the open-world foundation established by Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, refined for a new era of hardware.
Notably, the presentation lacked any branding for the original Nintendo Switch. With the trailer focusing solely on next-generation performance, Pokémon Winds and Waves is expected to be a premier title for Nintendo’s successor console when it arrives in 2027.
