Pokémon GO Gible Community Day Classic Event Guide

Comment Views: 9

Pokémon Go is hosting a featured Gible Community Day Classic event on Saturday, September 12, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM local time.

If your roster is still missing a formidable Garchomp, this is an appointment you won’t want to miss. Given the immense battle capability of Mega Garchomp, make it a priority to secure at least one high-Combat Power (CP) Gible before the window closes, alongside sufficient candy to evolve and maximize its potential.

As expected for Community Day celebrations, Gible will appear abundantly in the wild, accompanied by a significantly elevated shiny encounter rate. A comprehensive breakdown of all associated perks and bonuses is detailed below.

How to track down a Shiny Gible in Pokémon Go

Historical research data from the Pokémon community indicates that Community Day shiny encounters typically hover around a 1-in-24 probability. Dedicating your gameplay to the three-hour event window should yield a generous harvest of shiny variants.

If you find yourself pressed for time or resources, activate an Incense and rapidly check encounters by tapping each Gible, fleeing immediately from standard color variants. A helpful spatial trick to remember: checked Gible models will automatically orient themselves toward your avatar’s standing position, allowing you to easily keep track of which ones you have already inspected.

Exclusive Community Day Evolution Move

Evolving your Gabite into Garchomp anytime between 2:00 PM and 9:00 PM local time will reward you with the powerful Charged Attack, Earth Power.

Should you happen to miss this designated evolution window, you will typically get another opportunity during the annual December Community Day recap. Alternatively, you can bypass the wait by utilizing an Elite Charged TM.

Optimal Garchomp Movesets

In Player-versus-Environment (PvE) scenarios—such as raids and gym battles—Garchomp remains an absolute essential, largely driven by the staggering utility of its Mega Evolution. When equipped with Dragon Tail and Breaking Swipe, Mega Garchomp stands as the third-best Dragon-type offensive threat in the entire game, trailing only Eternatus and Mega Rayquaza. Furthermore, pairing it with Mud Shot and Earth Power makes it the second-best Ground-type attacker, sitting right behind Primal Groudon. Securing at least two well-trained Garchomp to cover both typings is highly recommended.

For Player-versus-Player (PvP) enthusiasts, Garchomp performs exceptionally well in the Master League, according to PvPoke rankings. Running a configuration of Dragon Tail, Twister, and Earth Power provides the coverage needed to overcome many of the meta-defining Dragon-types dominating the league.

It is also worth noting that an unreleased secondary Mega Evolution (Mega Garchomp Z) exists within lore, functioning as a pure Dragon-type. Setting aside an extra Garchomp or two for future implementation could prove wise.

Gible Community Day Event Bonuses

The following gameplay perks will remain active throughout the duration of the Gible Community Day event:

  • Triple XP (3x) for catching Pokémon
  • Incense duration extended to three hours
  • Lure Modules duration extended to one hour
  • Surprise Gible photobomb encounters via GO Snapshot
  • Exclusive Collection Challenge rewarding Garchomp Mega Energy
  • Themed Field Research tasks featuring potential encounters with Special Background Gible

To maximize your resource gains, be sure to deploy a Lucky Egg alongside your Incense while hunting for high-tier specimens.

Additionally, achieving an active Mega Evolution for Dragonite, Ampharos, Steelix, Sceptile, Swampert, Altaria, Salamence, Latias, Latios, Rayquaza, or Garchomp will grant bonus Gible Candy per catch. Performing Primal Reversion on Groudon yields a similar candy bonus.

Scopely Explore is also extending its ongoing “Lure Module Bonus” initiative. Between 2:00 PM and 9:00 PM, Lure Modules will trigger dense clusters of Gible spawns. Even after the official event concludes at 5:00 PM, active lures will continue to spawn Gible—retaining the boosted Community Day shiny rates—giving you extra time to hunt for shiny or Special Background variants.
