Pokémon Champions Release Date Confirmed

During the 30th-anniversary Pokémon Presents showcase, Pokémon Champions finally secured a definitive launch window. The competitive title is slated for a Nintendo Switch debut this April, with a mobile version following later in the year. The timing is strategic, ensuring the game is ready for its competitive debut at the Pokémon World Championships this August.

First unveiled during Pokémon Day in February 2025, Champions has been slowly revealing its depth, including a deep dive during a follow-up presentation last July. At its core, the game prioritizes high-stakes arena combat and intricate team customization. Trainers have the flexibility to migrate their existing collection via Pokémon Home or construct a powerhouse lineup using the native roster. Whether engaging in traditional singles or strategic double battles, players can test their mettle in both private lobbies and competitive ranked ladders.

The latest teaser emphasizes the title’s seamless portability, highlighting the ability to transition from home consoles to mobile devices. While much of the footage centered on the communal spirit of professional gaming, keen-eyed fans caught glimpses of intense gameplay featuring Mega Evolutions—most notably the debut of Mega Raichu X.

This update was merely one highlight of an action-packed 2026 Pokémon Presents. Beyond Champions, The Pokémon Company shared updates on Pokémon Pokopia, a fresh expansion for Pokémon TCG Pocket, and the monumental reveal of Generation 10: Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves. With such a dense roadmap, 2026 is poised to be a landmark year for the franchise.
