Few recording artists can claim to have launched their professional discography before completing their first full day of life, but Birdie James Hoying has set a remarkably early precedent.

The newborn daughter of Pentatonix vocalist Scott Hoying and her husband, Mark, makes her official recording debut on Little Birdie’s Big Symphony. Slated for an August 20 release, this ten-track children’s collection draws profound inspiration from the couple’s transition into parenthood. In an exceptionally charming touch, some of Birdie’s earliest vocalizations were captured on an iPhone mere hours after she was born.

Listeners can hear this spontaneous newborn audio woven seamlessly into the outro of the project’s introductory track, “Welcome Home,” before she receives an official featured artist credit on “Hello, My Baby Birdie!”

A Sentimental Journey Through Collaboration

Little Birdie’s Big Symphony serves as Scott and Mark’s sophomore children’s album, following their critically well-received 2025 release, M.Y. F.A.M.I.L.Y. Rather than compiling a standard assortment of nursery rhymes, the dads utilized their growing family as a creative compass, bridging their individual musical roots with the artists who have shaped their lives.

Among these special guests are childhood heroes of Scott’s, such as the acclaimed children’s music duo Trout Fishing in America. Discovering their work at age six inspired Scott to declare his ambition of becoming a touring musician to his father, making their collaboration on “The Flamingo Song” a deeply moving, full-circle milestone.

Singer-songwriter Christina Perri—who famously officiated and performed at the Hoyings’ wedding—joins the family on a rendition of “Landslide,” a particularly meaningful choice as it was the very first song Scott sang to baby Birdie. Additionally, longtime friend Kina Grannis lends her ethereal vocals to “Lullaby (Close Your Eyes),” a soothing composition originally penned by Trout Fishing in America.

Deeply Personal Dedications

The record’s most intimate moments stem directly from the fathers’ own narratives. “Dad 2 U” originated as an open letter from Scott to his daughter before evolving organically into a melody. Meanwhile, on “Pretty Little Baby,” Scott channels his signature a cappella prowess—reminiscent of his renowned work with Pentatonix—while Mark delivers a poignant verse in Tagalog, beautifully honoring his and Birdie’s shared Filipino heritage.

Production duties were spearheaded by Scott Hoying, with lush orchestration and supplementary production provided by Emmy-winning composer Dave Pierce alongside Grammy-nominated composer A.J. Sealy.
