Paul Bettany Denies Voldemort Rumors for HBO Series

Speculation continues to swirl regarding who will take on the mantle of Lord Voldemort in HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter reboot.

During a recent appearance at the Saturn Awards, actor Paul Bettany addressed the casting rumors, clarifying that he is not currently in negotiations with HBO for the role of the Dark Lord. His comments put an end to the fan theories that gained momentum online after Cillian Murphy similarly distanced himself from the high-profile production.

HBO is keeping its casting choices for Voldemort under wraps for now. According to industry insiders, the studio may have already secured a performer to voice the character for the initial seasons, with a full physical debut planned for later in the series. This approach would mirror the original film franchise, where the Dark Lord’s physical form was not fully revealed until Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

The first season of the Harry Potter series is currently slated for release in the first half of 2027, though an exact premiere date has yet to be finalized.
