The developers unexpectedly returned to the game.
Recently, a hacker known as voices38 managed to bypass Denuvo in Total War: Three Kingdoms. Shortly afterward, the developers made an unexpected comeback and issued a patch.
The previous update for Total War: Three Kingdoms was released several years ago. The developers said they “resolved a hardware compatibility issue that caused prolonged load times for some users.”
Some players speculate that, besides this fix, the Denuvo build may also have been updated. There have also been reports of mods breaking.
