Paris Jackson recently shared a poignant and transparent reflection on her journey through sobriety and mental health, offering a hand of solidarity to those traversing similar paths. Through an Instagram montage capturing her experiences over the past year, the musician and actress looked back on her transformation since choosing a life of recovery in 2020.

The daughter of the legendary Michael Jackson and Debbie Rowe has increasingly used her platform to destigmatize mental health struggles. In her latest message, she emphasized that while sobriety is a vital milestone, it is not a cure-all for life’s complexities. “Getting sober isn’t always a hallmark of a flawless existence,” Jackson admitted, noting that several years into her journey, things became exceptionally difficult for what felt like an “eternity.”

She explained that the transition required a complete overhaul of her psychological toolkit. “I lacked the survival skills I once relied on to cope,” she shared. “I had to learn how to navigate life on its own terms.”

Jackson was remarkably candid about the specific clinical challenges she faces, identifying her battles with treatment-resistant major depressive disorder, PTSD, and OCD. By naming these conditions, she sought to provide comfort to others in the same position. “If you are dealing with this or anything similar, you aren’t alone,” she wrote, concluding with a heartfelt “I love you” to her followers.

This update follows a major milestone earlier this year. In January 2025, Jackson celebrated five years of continuous sobriety. At that time, she introduced herself with striking honesty: “Hi, I’m PK, and I’m an alcoholic and a heroin addict.” She described her five-year anniversary as a feat for which “gratitude” felt like a gross understatement.

In her previous reflections, Jackson highlighted how clarity has allowed her to reconnect with the world. She spoke of the profound joy found in simple acts—writing music, caring for her pets, and even experiencing the raw, unfiltered weight of grief and heartbreak. “I get to feel the sun on my skin, and it’s warm,” she noted, illustrating the sensory rewards of her recovery.

While she continues her advocacy, Jackson remains a prolific force in the entertainment industry. Since the release of her 2020 debut album, Wilted, she has successfully balanced her musical output with high-profile work in both acting and modeling.
