Paramount Sets New Release Dates for G.I. Joe and Paranormal Activity Films
Paramount Pictures has set Danny McBride’s G.I. Joe reboot for a theatrical release on Oct. 20, 2028. The studio has also delayed the next Paranormal Activity film, which is now scheduled to arrive on Oct. 22, 2028.
McBride, known for his work in comedy movies, has directed television but will make his feature-film directorial debut with the new G.I. Joe. He wrote the screenplay with John Carcieri and Jeff Fradley, his collaborators on The Righteous Gemstones.
Casting is still beginning, but Bradley Cooper has been cast as Duke. McBride has described the movie as a fun, suspenseful action film set in Springfield, a small town run by Cobra.

Few other details are known about the reboot, which remains in the early stages of development. Paramount announced that the film will reach theaters on Oct. 20, 2028.
Paranormal Activity 8, originally scheduled for May 21, 2027, has been delayed. The film will bring viewers back to Katie and Micah’s house nearly two decades later.
Undertone director Ian Tuason is directing, with original director Oren Peli, James Wan, and Jason Blum serving as producers. Tuason has said he is confident about taking charge of the franchise. He plans to focus on the elements that made the first three films great, aiming to create a “hybrid that’s going to define the found-footage genre.”

Paranormal Activity 8 is now set to open on Oct. 22, 2028, nearly a year before the G.I. Joe reboot.
