Paramount Reveals Release Dates for Sonic the Hedgehog 4 and New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie
Paramount intends to unveil several family-friendly releases in late 2028.
Paramount has announced release dates for two films based on beloved franchises — Sonic the Hedgehog and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Both are slated for the holiday season: a live-action/CGI hybrid Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles feature will arrive in theaters on November 17, 2028, while the new Sonic film is set for release on December 22, 2028.
Earlier, Paramount paused development on a darker, R-rated adaptation of the comic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, choosing instead to concentrate on a more family-oriented interpretation. The project is being produced by Neil H. Moritz — the producer behind the Fast & Furious franchise and the Sonic films. International outlets have described the forthcoming movie as a “Sonic-ified” take on the Turtles.
At the same time, the studio is moving ahead with a sequel to Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s animated film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.
As for Sonic, the new installment will be the fourth entry in the shared SEGA–Paramount cinematic universe, though details remain scarce. The final scene of the trilogy hinted at the arrival of Metal Sonic and Amy Rose, and insiders have suggested the plot may draw on Sonic CD and incorporate time-travel elements.
