Reports indicate that John Hannah is set to rejoin the cast for the upcoming The Mummy reboot, following the news that Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz will once again lead the franchise. Hannah famously portrayed the brother of Weisz’s character throughout the original trilogy, which spanned from 1999 to 2008 and followed a band of explorers who inadvertently unleashed an ancient malevolence in the Egyptian desert.
While specific plot details for the revival remain under wraps, the project is being helmed by Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, the filmmaking duo behind Ready or Not and the recent Scream installments. Universal Pictures has scheduled the next chapter of The Mummy to hit theaters on May 19, 2028.
