One Piece Could Soon Be Coming to Fortnite

As Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 draws to a close, players can start looking ahead to the yearly mini-season. Rumors have been building that this interlude will center on One Piece, the hugely popular manga and anime franchise. Epic Games hasn’t said a word about the theme, but a curious find in the game files may have given fans the confirmation they were hoping for.

The final Chapter 7 Season 4 update arrived on Oct. 15 and added the last batch of Fortnitemares content ahead of Halloween. Chapter 8 will overhaul the Battle Royale experience, replacing the current island, weapons, theme, and core mechanics. To smooth the transition, Epic releases a mini-season between chapters.

Each mini-season is built around a single theme. Last year’s was The Simpsons: the map became Springfield, and the mini-pass offered a range of cell-shaded, themed cosmetics. Over the past few weeks, rumors have circulated that have led players to expect a One Piece mini-season this time around.

While combing through the latest update’s files, data miners uncovered an ominous-looking pirate chest. The chest is thought to be tied to the season’s closing event, which is expected to send players somewhere new, possibly Blue Planet.

Another striking discovery is a new lore-focused loading screen. It shows Jonesy and Hope tumbling through a rift in reality, with the pirate chest falling alongside them. Loading screens are easy to dismiss, yet they frequently tie into Fortnite lore and can tell an entire story. Hope lies flat, looking self-assured as she plunges toward a new map, while Jonesy perches on a barrel. In chapter 2 of the One Piece manga, Luffy famously climbs out of a barrel that has washed ashore. It’s a memorable moment from the early days of the record-breaking series. Is this merely a badly timed coincidence, or is it one more clue pointing to the upcoming mini-season?

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 ends on Nov. 1, and the mini-season begins that same day.
