Olivia Rodrigo Calls Daisy Chain Fields Festival the Greatest Joy of Her Career and Shares First Thing She Did After It Ended

Olivia Rodrigo reflected on the inaugural Daisy Chain Fields festival in an Instagram post on Sunday, August 30, following the event’s success.

“seeing daisy chain come to fruition yesterday was the greatest joy of my career,” she wrote, sharing a photo of herself and artist Jaime Gerin hugging while crew members dismantled the festival setup. She mentioned riot grrrl mosh pits, friendship bracelets made on the grass, and young girls on their fathers’ shoulders.

“I am still in a bit of disbelief that it happened and I still feel incapable of properly expressing the gratitude that I feel for every person who believed in this vision and fought so hard to make it a reality,” Rodrigo added, explaining that she and her friends ran around the grounds in Irvine, California, to process the performances.

“we ended our night of frolicking at yoko onos ‘wish tree’ installation at the entrance of the festival,” the Grammy winner wrote. She described the artwork where festivalgoers wrote hopes on tags and tied them to branches. While some messages were lighthearted, she noted that almost every tag shared similar themes.

According to Rodrigo, most tags expressed a desire for a more peaceful world, happiness for loved ones, and the ability to make a difference.

“it made me so emotional and I realized that was exactly why daisy chain meant so much to me,” she stated. She added that the artwork highlighted how people share more similarities than differences and fundamentally want to help each other.

Daisy Chain Fields took place on Saturday with an all-women lineup featuring Chappell Roan, Doechii, Mitski, Bikini Kill, The Breeders, and others. Stevie Nicks, Sarah McLachlan, and surprise guest Alanis Morissette performed during Rodrigo’s closing headlining set.

In a Vogue Philippines cover story published on Monday, August 31, Rodrigo discussed curating the lineup and reaching out to the artists. “Nobody once was like, ‘Oh, like, do I have to do it for free?’ Or, ‘Oh, my gosh, it’s going to be too hard on my schedule,’ or, like, ‘Oh, I’m going to have to fly in from another place,’” she told the publication. “It makes me feel really proud to be a part of this generation of women.”

Proceeds from the event will benefit organizations supporting women and girls, including Planned Parenthood and the Center for Reproductive Rights. Rodrigo announced during a press conference the day before the festival that ticket sales raised $10 million in donations, which Melinda French Gates matched to bring the total to $20 million.

The High School Musical: The Musical: The Series actor concluded her post by confirming that the festival will return in 2027, writing, “thank you to everyone who came yesterday who showed me that joy is a part of the solution. until next yearrrrr.”
