“Obsession” Grosses $300 Million

Curry Barker’s horror hit "Obsession" has officially eclipsed the $300 million mark in global box office receipts.

The film has also shattered records for Focus Features. It pulled in $201 million from the North American market and an additional $98.7 million internationally, all against a remarkably lean production budget of just $750,000.

In Russia, the film surpassed 260 million rubles in ticket sales. Starring Michael Johnston and Indi Navarrete, the story follows Bear, a socially awkward underdog hopelessly infatuated with his coworker, Nikki. Desperate to win her affection, he acquires a magical wand that promises to grant any desire—only for the situation to spiral as Nikki becomes dangerously obsessed with him.

Critics have lauded "Obsession," awarding it a 94% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. There is also growing speculation that the studio intends to mount an awards campaign for the film.
