Nordic Horizons: Bespoke Depots

Renowned for dramatic fjords, windswept coasts, and a strong industrial tradition, the Nordic countries provide a rich backdrop for our next map expansion. We’re pleased to share an inside look at the bespoke depots being developed for the Nordic Horizons DLC for Nordic Horizons for Euro Truck Simulator 2.

As you traverse Sweden, Finland and Norway, you’ll deliver to a range of purpose-built facilities: expansive arable farms and livestock yards, broad timber extraction sites, and even a subterranean quarry hewn into ancient bedrock. Each depot has been meticulously modelled by our team to reflect northern industrial character while delivering fresh gameplay and logistical variety for every driver.

Development begins long before the assets hit the map. Our research and mapping teams collaborate to identify industries typical of the region, then translate real-world workflows into playable locations. For each site we document operational processes, primary outputs, common cargoes, and the visual cues that make the facility distinctive. That groundwork lets our designers create depots that feel authentic to the Nordics and present meaningful in-game tasks.

Many depots take inspiration from real Scandinavian operations: golden grain fields, compact service stations along remote highways, bustling timber terminals, and an underground quarry carved beneath the surface. Each location aims to convey both the practical demands and the quiet beauty of Nordic logistics.

“We’ve aimed to recreate the serene atmosphere of Scandinavian farms — self-sufficient, pragmatic, and rich in detail — while remaining true to the operational nuances of farmlands.”

“After introducing custom hotels and farms in the Greece DLC, additional designers joined the effort to broaden our custom depot portfolio for Nordic Horizons. I focused on the underground depot in Kiruna and helped refine other designers’ locations, ensuring the subterranean experience feels distinct from our American Truck Simulator implementations. I’m eager to see how players handle the underground challenges!”
